Fly fish the fabulous Elk River and its back fork then come back to your stunning mountain cabin to crystal clean air and the best-tasting spring water on earth, and mountain-top views set within a gorgeous hardwood forest on 18 acres with no fencing. Lumber companies conveniently left a great road from the main highway 15 and the surrounding virgin forest creates utter privacy.

Or HUNT! Summer sightings included several bear with cubs and many deer and fawn, and birds are plentiful. When our children were young they'd roof-watch the wildlife that didn't come into the clearing, and the on-site blueberries in summer ensure bear are used to wandering nearby.

Only 45 minutes to Snowshoe for high life, or an hour from Elkins. Wander the West Virginia priced (inexpensive) antique shops with terrific finds, or find some weekend mountain music at the many heritage weekends, where relations near and far visit for a town family reunion. Remind yourself and the kids how life was back when.

The cabin was lovingly hand-crafted from 26 kinds of local timber by a master furniture builder.

Elk River Retreat, Bergoo
$750 for week,$125 a night for first  2 nights, then $100 a night therafter - 2 night minimum.

Come for some R&R in Bergoo, WV, and enjoy sitting on the covered front porch while watching wildlife or enjoy grilling with friends on the back covered deck while soaking in the hot tub. Plus this cabin is 26 miles away from Snowshoe Mountain if you enjoy snow skiing, snowboarding or snowtubing. After a hard day of play enjoy warming up around the wood burning fireplace. 

If kayaking or fishing is your specailty then you will have many local rivers to choose from. Enjoy the Back Fork of Elk, Gauley, Cranberry, Williams, Holly plus many trout streams. Fish miles of the Elk River with in minutes of the Cabin. Elk River can be walked to with-in a 10 minute hike.
